THE ROLE

Orchestrate is Zattoo's modern IPTV/OTT middleware — powering both our own B2C streaming services and the B2B operators who build their TV products on top of it. It's live in production, onboarding new operators, and replacing Zattoo's legacy middleware.

Lead the backend team through this growth phase — with real ownership over the platform's technical direction and the ability to navigate the complexity of a multi-tenant platform with real customers depending on it.

THE ORCHESTRATE TEAM

A cross-functional team of senior backend and full-stack engineers, product managers, and designers. The stack is Python/Django, PostgreSQL, and Kubernetes. Each operator runs on their own isolated instance with independent lifecycle and data boundaries.

The team is the operational owner of the platform — spanning client-facing and operator-facing APIs, an operator management console, a developer portal, and integrations across streaming, content, identity, and data systems. Other teams across the organization contribute to the codebases of the platform and collaborate on shaping APIs and integrations.

You won't be starting alone: the current engineering lead will partner with you as co-EM during ramp-up and remain connected to the team long-term.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Partner with senior engineers on API design, architecture, and multi-tenant trade-offs — provide context, clear the path, and let experienced people do their best work
• Collaborate with product managers and designers to shape the management console, developer portal, and integration experience for operators
• Drive the quality of APIs, documentation, and onboarding so both internal and external partners can integrate smoothly and independently
• Champion technical debt, platform reliability, and operational needs on the roadmap — while product shapes what gets built, ensure how it's built is sustainable
• Coach and develop engineers in their careers, and hire people who raise the bar

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

• 7+ years in backend engineering, with experience leading teams — ideally in platform, API, or infrastructure contexts
• Designed APIs, built distributed systems, or operated multi-tenant platforms at scale
• A strong sense for integration quality — how external partners experience your platform matters to you
• Navigated competing priorities across engineering, product, and business stakeholders
• Strong communication skills in English
• Experience with IPTV/OTT, media streaming, or B2B platform products
• Bonus: Familiarity with Python/Django, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes, or similar stacks
