Intermate x SAMY – Shaping the State of Social

You will be joining SAMY – a global powerhouse leading the evolution of brand communication. WHAT YOU DO

As Data Engineering Lead, you are the technical backbone of our global data ecosystem. You build and own the infrastructure that our entire data strategy rests on – from pipeline to warehouse. You lead a small, highly motivated team of data engineers and work closely with the Global Analytics Lead and the Data Product Manager.

You design, build, and maintain our global data warehouse and ETL/ELT pipelines. You set the standard for what the entire agency can achieve from a data perspective.
You lead our team of data engineers, coaching them in best practices around code quality, documentation, and system reliability – creating an environment where everyone grows.
As the technical counterpart to the Global Analytics Lead, you translate analytical visions into scalable, automated production models – turning ideas into real systems.
You work closely with the Data Product Manager to ensure our internal data products are powered by efficient, high-performance, and cost-optimised data streams.

Requirements

WHAT YOU NEED

4–7 years of experience in data engineering – with a proven track record of building scalable data infrastructure
Expert-level SQL and Python: writing clean, performant code is second nature to you
Hands-on experience with modern cloud data warehouses (BigQuery, Snowflake, or Redshift)
Experience with at least one data visualisation tool (Power BI or Looker)
Solid proficiency in Git and modern version control workflows
Familiarity with social media APIs and the unique challenges of unstructured data
Leadership experience or experience mentoring engineers – and the ability to translate technical blockers into business solutions

Nice to have

Interest in AI/ML – e.g. using LLMs to categorise social content at scale
Multilingualism or experience working in multicultural, international teams
A genuine feel for culture, creator ecosystems, and consumer behaviour
